Indian AI unicorn Krutrim, founded by Bhavish Aggarwal, has become the first Indian company to host Meta’s powerful Llama 4 open-source AI models entirely on domestic servers. With this strategic move, Krutrim is now positioned as India’s most comprehensive Model-as-a-Service (MaaS) provider, offering cutting-edge AI tools at the lowest prices in the industry — between ₹7 and ₹17 per million tokens.
Krutrim is now hosting two advanced Llama 4 models: Llama 4 Scout and Llama 4 Maverick.
-
Llama 4 Scout features 17 billion active parameters, 16 experts, and supports a massive 10 million token context window.
-
Llama 4 Maverick, on the other hand, boasts 17 billion active parameters, 128 experts, and supports a 1 million token context. This model even rivals larger AI systems in coding and reasoning tasks, outperforming competitors like GPT-4o and Gemini 2.0 Flash on key benchmarks.
These models, hosted entirely in India, help address growing concerns over data privacy and sovereignty — a major priority for Indian developers and startups. Krutrim’s domestic hosting ensures complete control over sensitive data while delivering high-performance AI capabilities.

Krutrim Cloud also continues to expand its offerings. It currently supports multiple DeepSeek AI models, with parameters ranging from 8 billion to 700 billion, at competitive prices starting from ₹10 per million tokens. The company has also announced plans to scale its data center capacity to a massive 1 GW by 2028.
Coming soon is Krutrim Assistant V2, featuring DeepSearch, a new tool aimed at delivering more accurate and efficient data searches — further improving productivity for users across industries.
Founded in 2023, Krutrim provides GPU-as-a-Service and Model-as-a-Service to support the growing AI ecosystem in India. It became a unicorn in January 2024 after raising $50 million in a round led by Z47 (formerly Matrix Partners India).
The company has also submitted a proposal under the ₹10,037 crore IndiaAI Mission to build indigenous foundational AI models, with government funding expected to support promising startups in the coming months.
With the deployment of Meta’s Llama 4 models, Krutrim is not just providing access to world-class AI — it’s making advanced AI more accessible and affordable for every Indian developer and enterprise.
