Bengaluru Couple’s Public Display of Affection at Metro Station Triggers Outrage Online

Bengaluru: A video showing a young couple engaging in a Public Display of Affection (PDA) while waiting at a Bengaluru Metro station platform went viral on Friday, sparking heated discussions across social media.

The incident reportedly took place at Namma Metro station near Madavara. In the 1.25-minute video, the couple is seen standing in a queue to board the train. The young man places his hand inside the girl’s jersey and continues with the act, seemingly oblivious to the public environment around them. The footage includes elderly passengers and families nearby, some of whom appear visibly disturbed.

This act of public indecency triggered a strong backlash. Social media users labeled it as inappropriate and called for immediate action by the authorities. Many emphasized that public spaces like metro stations are meant for everyone — families, elders, children — and not for such intimate behavior.

The video was uploaded on platform X by the account ‘Karnataka Portfolio’, with the caption:
“Is Bengaluru heading towards Delhi Metro culture??? Disturbing public behaviour at Namma Metro station raises questions about decency in Bengaluru.”

The post expressed deep concern:

“Seeing such behavior in public spaces is disappointing and unacceptable. Relationships are personal, but there’s a line between affection and indecency — and that line was clearly crossed. Such behavior reflects a lack of respect for public decorum.”

Another user commented:

“Metro stations are becoming dating spots now? This is not freedom or boldness, it’s disrespect and a lack of awareness.”

Many netizens also criticized the video being uploaded without blurring the couple’s faces. One comment read:

“Even if their actions were wrong, uploading a video without hiding their identity is also unethical.”

Several users urged the authorities to maintain stricter surveillance in metro stations and ensure such incidents don’t repeat. Meanwhile, a debate continues on the balance between personal freedom and public decency.
